A
once in a lifetime experience - you don't want to miss
out on DAYS!
DAYS – Danish Atlantic Youth Seminar – is a seminar of
one week’s duration with approximately
40
young participants from
the transatlantic countries, Russia, Caucasus, the
Balkans, and the Middle East.
The first DAYS was held in 1986 and throughout the years
more than 1,000
students have had the opportunity to take part in DAYS.
In total, participants from about 25 countries gather at
the seminar.
The seminar is organized jointly by staff at the DATA
secretariat and volunteering members of the youth
committee
YATA Denmark.
The
seminar takes place at Aalborg Airbase close to
the town of Aalborg, situated in the Northern part of
Denmark.

The treatment
and service at the Airbase is superb, and
the crew is looking forward to welcoming new DAYS
participants in 2011.

The objective of DAYS is both
educational and social. This means that the program consists of a mixture of lectures,
simulation game,
debates, excursions, and social gatherings.
The overall educational goal of the seminar is to
discuss and debate relevant
issues concerning European, global and international
security.
The main focus is
the
roles and mandates of international organizations and
state actors
-
in
particular NATO, the European Union, the United States,
and the UN.
Each year a new subject within this sphere forms the
leitmotif of the seminar.
In 2010 DAYS celebrated it's 25th
anniversary and presented a program with lectures on
securitization, future trends in foreign policy, the
Caucasus etc.

DAYS has come to stay.
In order to improve
international understanding and prevent future
conflicts, we find it absolutely essential that
young people from NATO, partnership countries and
other regions
meet, discuss and exchange points of view. We know
it is worth the effort. This work will be
continued by the present Secretary General Mr
Troels Frøling and the DATA secretariat.
